Stewart, 22, earned an estimated $34.5mn from May 2011 to May 2012 thanks to her role as Bella Swan in two hit Twilight films for which she was paid $12.5mn each, plus a share of the profits. She topped up her wage check with a starring role in Snow White and the Huntsmen.
Second on the list was Cameron Diaz, who earned $34mn, thanks mainly to her share of the profits in the surprise hit Bad Teacher.
Third place went to Sandra Bullock with earnings of $25mn, while last year’s leader Angelina Jolie dropped to fourth spot with $20mn in pay. Charlize Theron rounded out the top five with $18mn.
Julia Roberts ($16mn), Sarah Jessica Parker ($15mn), Meryl Streep ($12mn), Kristen Wig ($12mn) and Jennifer Aniston ($11mn) rounded out the top 10.
In total Hollywood’s 10 leading actresses earned $200mn, far less than the $361mn earned by the top 10 actors on Forbes list.
